Jerwood Artists Platform
Cell Project Space have hosted the third cycle of the Jerwood Artists Platform in a significant collaboration. Calls for nominations were invited in October 2005 and 2006. The Jerwood Artists Platform began in 2004 with the aim of identifying and showcasing emerging and talented visual artists by providing them with their first London one-person exhibition. Established artists, tutors and art professionals from the UK are invited to nominate individuals who show excellence, innovation and commitment within the field of visual arts and whose career as professional artists could be substantially supported through an immediate one-person exhibition in central London. This series of solo exhibitions is aimed at artists who have not had major solo show in London and is for artists with a longer track record than the artists selected for In Brief. The selectors for the 2006 show were Sacha Craddock, Sorcha Dallas, Sheena Etches, Milika Muritu and Roanne Dods. The artists whose work was exhibited at Cell Project Space were: Richard Foster (20 May-25 June 2006) Tod Hanson (2 December 2006-14 January 2007) David Blandy (10 March-15 April 2007). The fifth series was selected at the end of 2006 with Sacha Craddock, Sheena Etches, Richard Priestley and Roanne Dods as selectors. The artists selected are Stuart Murray and Sophie Newell In 2005, the selection panel was led by Sacha Craddock, art critic; with Andrew Renton, Curator, Academic and Writer; Katrina Brown, Curator, Dundee College of Art.
